Badminton

Badminton at RKSSS
Our badminton program gives students access to courts with quality flooring and lighting, along with coaching that covers both technique and match play. Coaches work with players at every level — from beginners learning to hold a racket and make contact, to advanced students working on smash placement and court coverage.
Training sessions cover footwork, grip, serves, clears, drops, smashes, and net play. Players also do fitness routines — agility drills, shadow practice, and stamina building — because badminton demands quick bursts of movement in every direction. Badminton is one of the sport options available to students under the mandatory sports activity rule.
Training Sessions
- Technical drills: grip, footwork, serve, clear, drop, smash, and net play
- Tactical exercises: shot selection, court positioning, and reading the opponent
- Fitness routines: agility drills, shadow practice, and stamina building
- Practice matches: singles and doubles, with coach feedback
- Inter-house tournament preparation

Match Experience
Students compete in inter-house badminton tournaments through the year. The school also hosts the Inter-House Badminton Championship, where players from all four houses compete in singles and doubles categories. For many students, these tournaments are their first experience of competitive match play — learning to manage nerves, adapt to an opponent's style, and maintain focus across a full match.
