What We Teach and How
RKSSS follows the CBSE curriculum from Class 1 to 12. Every stage — primary, middle, secondary, and senior secondary — has its own tab below with the subjects offered, how they are taught, and how students are assessed. The curriculum is the same nationally recognized CBSE syllabus used across India, adapted to our student body in Aliganj, Lucknow.
Our CBSE curriculum runs across all four stages of schooling. Students move from foundational literacy and numeracy in primary, to subject-specific study in middle school, to board exam preparation in secondary, and finally to specialized streams in senior secondary. Each stage builds on the last, so a student who starts in Class 1 at RKSSS can progress all the way through Class 12 without changing schools or boards.
Primary (Classes 1-5)
The primary years focus on reading, writing, basic math, and curiosity about the world around them. Children learn through activity-based teaching, storytelling, and interactive classroom sessions — not rote memorization.
- Subjects: English, Hindi, Mathematics, Environmental Science (EVS), Computer Science, Art and Craft, Music, and Physical Education. A third language option is introduced in Class V.
- Assessment: Continuous assessment integrated with daily teaching — no single high-stakes exam. Teachers track progress through regular classwork, activities, and periodic checks.
- Focus: Strong reading and writing skills, basic arithmetic, scientific curiosity, and social awareness.
Middle (Classes 6-8)
Middle school introduces separate subjects — Science splits into Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; Social Science into History, Geography, and Civics. Students start thinking analytically instead of just absorbing information.
- Subjects: English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology integrated), Social Science (History, Geography, Civics), Sanskrit, Computer Science, Art Education, Music, and Physical Education.
- Assessment: A mix of formative assessments (projects, classwork) and summative assessments (term-end exams) under the CBSE framework.
- Focus: Conceptual clarity, problem-solving, scientific reasoning, and understanding society.
Secondary (Classes 9-10)
Classes 9 and 10 are built around the CBSE Class 10 board examination. The curriculum deepens subject knowledge and trains students in the exam format, time management, and application of concepts.
- Compulsory Subjects: English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science.
- Optional Subjects: Computer Applications, Artificial Intelligence, Home Science, and others as per CBSE guidelines.
- Assessment: Internal assessments (periodic tests, assignments, projects) plus the CBSE Class 10 Board Examination.
Senior Secondary (Classes 11-12)
At the senior secondary level, students choose one of three streams — Science, Commerce, or Humanities — based on their interests and career plans. Each stream follows the CBSE syllabus and prepares students for the Class 12 board exams and competitive entrance tests.
- Science: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, plus electives like Computer Science or Physical Education.
- Commerce: Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, Mathematics, plus electives.
- Humanities: History, Political Science, Economics, Geography or Sociology, plus electives.
- Compulsory: English Core for all streams.
- Assessment: Internal assessments (tests, practicals, projects) plus the CBSE Class 12 Board Examination.
