A School That Grew Up with Aliganj

R.K. Senior Secondary School was founded in 1991 by a group of educators in Aliganj, Lucknow, who wanted a school that took academics and character equally seriously. They started small — a few classrooms, a handful of teachers, and a simple belief that every child deserves a school that knows them by name.

The early days were modest. There were no smart boards, no computer lab, no senior secondary wing — just teachers who cared about their students and parents who trusted them with their children. Classes were added one year at a time, as the first batches of students grew older and the school grew with them.

What kept families coming back was not fancy facilities or marketing — it was the fact that teachers here knew each child. Which student needed a push, which one needed patience, which one was quietly struggling and needed someone to notice. That has not changed in over three decades.

Today, R.K. Senior Secondary School is a CBSE-affiliated senior secondary school serving students from Class 1 to 12. The campus has science and computer labs, a library, playgrounds, and dedicated spaces for sports, music, and dance. But walk through the corridors and you will still see what the founders set out to build — a school where every child is known.

Our Journey

R.K. Senior Secondary School began in 1991 in Aliganj, Lucknow, with a simple intention — to give the children of the neighbourhood a place where they could learn steadily and grow up known. In those early years, the school taught the primary classes and added higher grades as the first batches of students moved up. Each expansion brought new classrooms, new teachers, and new subjects. Science and computer laboratories were built so that students could learn by doing and not only by reading. A library was added, playgrounds were laid out, and dedicated spaces for sports, music, and dance followed in time.

As families in the neighbourhood stayed with us year after year, they wanted their children to complete their schooling here. We added Class 11 and 12 with Science and Commerce streams, so that students could prepare for board exams, competitive entrance tests, and their next steps without leaving the school they had grown up in. Affiliating with the Central Board of Secondary Education was a turning point. It meant our students would study a nationally recognized curriculum and sit for board exams that opened doors across the country. It also meant we held ourselves to a national standard — in teaching, in assessment, and in the facilities we provide. We have met that standard every year, with a 100% pass rate in both Class X and XII board examinations for four consecutive years, from 2022 to 2025.

Today the school stands in the same Aliganj neighbourhood where it began. Many of our teachers have been here for over a decade, and we now teach the children of parents who were once students here themselves. Our four houses — Nalanda, Takshashila, Vallabhi, and Vikramshila — give students a sense of belonging and healthy competition from their first year. Annual events such as Annual Day, Independence Day, and Republic Day have been fixtures on our calendar for as long as anyone here can remember. We are not the largest school in Lucknow, and we do not try to be. We are the school that has stayed true to what it was founded for — solid teaching, honest values, and a place where every child is known.
